#JOB - Network Engineer - Ashburn, VA

Position :: Network Engineer
Location :: Ashburn, VA

Job Description:
While working in Network OPS, our job duties are to maintain network devices, circuits to and between data centers and POP sites. Maintaining the fleet requires to monitor, react, respond, troubleshoot, and fix the alerts, alarms, and issues in various network devices and circuits including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, Arista switches and routers. It requires regular interaction with ISPs, Data center techs, third party techs in colocations/ PoPs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Troubleshooting the routing protocols like BGP, OSPF etc. and work with the ISPs, Internal teams to resolve the issues.
·         Troubleshooting the issues related to bundle configurations in Cisco, Juniper, Arista etc devices.
·         Troubleshoot and repair local and long haul circuits, working with both internal resources and
·         3rd party vendors to isolate and resolve cabling issues.
·         Use internal software, tools, and scripts to configure, monitor, troubleshoot and repair network equipment
·         Perform queue management for alarms, tasks, and incidents and participate in ongoing deployment projects
·         Creating new RMA requests through OEM vendors for both replacement devices, as well as obtaining technical assistance when troubleshooting devices.
·         Troubleshooting network link/device hardware/configuration issues, isolating the problem, fixing the problem
·         Troubleshoot, tracing, loop back testing of links to locate the physical issue.
·         Install, configure and support large-scale production and corporate network infrastructure including routers, switches, console servers and optical transport equipment.
·         Troubleshooting problems with optical network infrastructure devices, fiber cables, Optical interfaces (SFPs/ CFPs),
·         Troubleshoot network hardware and software, working with 3rd party hardware vendors and suppliers on root cause analysis and resolution.
·         Log management, providing the required logs to principal TAC team members.
·         Verify capacity, draining traffic, suppressing alarms before replacing; optics, line cards, sup cards.
·         Schedule and perform network maintenance, repair, and upgrade tasks as needed while limiting the impact on the production network
·         Tracking, maintaining and updating asset inventory of defective and replacement parts.
·         Complete ownership and follow-ups to resolve the issues till the task closure.
·         Team work and delegation within the team for the tasks closure.
·         Issue tracking/ weekly reports/ monthly reports.
·         Working with client management for any process improvement.
·         Good documentation and presentation skills.

SKILLS REQUIRED
Must Have:
·         Cisco, Juniper professional certifications like - CCNP, JNCIS/ JNCIP
·         7+ years’ of hands-on work experience in networks installation, configuration and support.
·         Extensive experience with Cisco Nexus 7K, 5K devices. Cisco ASR 9K, Chassis based Switches
·         like 6500, Juniper Enterprise and Service Provider network hardware platforms like modular based MX series, PTX series and architectures including data center switching platforms.
·         Strong working and troubleshooting knowledge of routing protocols like - OSPF, BGP
·         Good working experience with switching technologies/ concepts - like STP, VLANs, VTP
·         Good hands on experience on the load balancing concepts like - LACP, PAgP etc.
·         Fair knowledge in working with telecom carriers, link issue resolution, telecom circuit provisioning/issue fixing.
·         Understanding, troubleshooting skills and resolution skills on the optical network infrastructure
·         devices, fiber cables, Optical interfaces (SFPs/ CFPs),
·         Working with principal vendors like Cisco/ Juniper TAC for RMA (hardware replacement)
·         Positive attitude and efficient team player.
·         Good communication skills

Others:
·         Working knowledge on MPLS concepts.
·         Understanding the Metro Ethernet concepts and associated Fiber DWDM equipment like
·         Cyan, Ciena, Infinera etc.
·         Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and utilize troubleshooting skills, systems and tools, and creative problem solving abilities under pressure.
·         Working knowledge of Linux OS and CLI navigation
·         Working knowledge on using software related tools like - Putty, WinScp, Filezilla
·         Strong documentation, written and presentation skills.
